The search for this year’s cutest face ends in Dalton, Georgia. Lucas was chosen as the 2018 spokesbaby for Gerber, and is the first child with Down Syndrome to take home the honor.

This year’s winner was announced Wednesday on the “Today” show, by Gerber President and CEO Bill Partyka. According to a source, Partyka shared this statement:

“Lucas’ winning smile and joyful expression won our hearts this year, and we are all thrilled to name him our 2018 Spokesbaby. Every year, we choose the baby who best exemplifies Gerber’s longstanding heritage of recognizing that every baby is a Gerber baby, and this, Lucas in the perfect fit.”

Lucas was chosen by a picture his parent submitted, that was among 140,000 other applicants’ pictures.

“As a father, seeing your child exceed in life and go to school, it’s something I’m looking forward to,” Lucas’s dad, Jason, said through tears. “I just want him to look back and say, ‘I was the Gerber baby. Look at everything I did.’ ”

Along with the 2018 Gerber Spokesbaby title, he also won $50,000. His parents say they plan on putting that money up for his education.
