The victim was, Jazna O. Timmons, 34, an employee of the Georgia Veterans Nursing Home, according to the Augusta Chronicle. The local police were dispatched to the scene after receiving the call at 11:30 a.m.
The suspected shooter left the scene and is armed and dangerous, according to multiple reports. Nearby Paine College sent out a description of a person driving a white Chevy Traverse.
The Coroner, Mark Bowen, told the Augusta Chronicle that Timmons was shot at least one time and was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:30 a.m. The body was sent to the GBI’s Crime Lab for an autopsy.
Augusta University and Paine College sent out alerts to students that there was a “domestic violence targeted attack.”
The nursing home facility primarily provides healthcare services to Georgia’s elderly and ailing veterans.
The chaplain’s office within the nursing home provided counseling services for staff and patients in the aftermath of this incident.
Reports from the Augusta Chronicle indicate that woman’s husband, Richard Lyle Timmons Jr., 29, is considered to be the prime suspect since he was the last one seen driving away in the Chevy Traverse.
